Plan for Fall!

Our Spring classes will be ending over the next few weeks. Your next opportunity to register for classes will come when the Fall catalog is published in August. If you are not on the mailing list for the catalog, send your name and street address to aikenseniornet@gmail.com. Also watch for the catalog to be published in the Aiken Standard in early August. After the catalog is published, you may register for classes using the options explained here. Fall classes will begin in September. Come join us and improve your computer skills!

Current News and Announcements

  • Welcome to aikenseniornet.com. While we have used that Internet address for some time, our web site was actually located on the server at USCA's on-campus library. We have now moved the actual web site to aikenseniornet.com, located on an outside hosting service. One result of that move is that links to the old location will take you either to a page that links back to this web site or a page that is no longer updated. If the link in your address bar includes the text library.usca.edu/seniornet, then you are pointed to the old location. In the browser address box, replace the part of the address that says library.usca.edu/seniornet with aikenseniornet.com to go to the correct page. Update your bookmark or favorite with the new Internet address.

You may also notice we have tweaked the appearance of our web site. Not a big change, but we hope you feel it is more attractive. Happy surfing.

  • Are you a beginner student when it comes to computers? One of the challenges a senior beginner faces is using the mouse to control actions on the screen. Our hand-eye coordination is not quite as good as it was when we were twenty and it is a challenge to learn to move the mouse and click the buttons smoothly and without false clicks.

To address this challenge, we offer a Mousing Skills workshop. The workshop is free if you are a registered student in our SRN101 Beginning Computer course and meets on the Friday before the first class. We use publicly-available exercises to learn to use the mouse. If you want to practice at home, you can find links to all the exercises we use here.
